Our research fields are cardiovascular pharmacology and endocrinological pharmacology. We are interested in physiological regulation of cardiovascular and metabolic systems and molecular mechanisms for the effects of endogenous substances and drugs on these systems. Not only pharmacological analyses, such as measuring blood pressure, blood flow, vascular contraction, second messenger signaling, and hormone secretion, but also optical technique and patch clamp technique are used for the investigations. Especially, we have investigated effects of mechanical stress on blood vessels, skeletal muscles, pancreatic cells, and adipocytes. In addition, cellular and molecular mechanisms for the effects of new drugs, targeting ischemic and diabetic diseases, have also been investigated from the point of view of experimental therapeutics. We also have just started a new project elucidating pharmacological mechanisms of novel compounds obtained from natural resources.
