Centenary Celebration of the University of Shizuoka School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Shizuoka School of Pharmaceutical Sciences as the Shizuoka Women’s School of Pharmacy in 1916.
Over the last century, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences has continued to produce many excellent pharmacists and researchers, to make great progress as a center of research and academic enquiry, and to make substantial contributions to society.
To commemorate this milestone year, we are holding centenary celebrations which will be attended by our esteemed colleagues from overseas universities, alumni, the general public, and others from outside the university. We will hold a commemorative lecture and symposium to raise knowledge and awareness of issues related to pharmaceutical science, as well as issuing a commemorative publication, in order to highlight the future contributions that pharmaceutical science can make to society.
The commemorative lecture will be given by Dr. Tasuku Honjo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University of Shizuoka and former Dean of the Kyoto University Faculty of Medicine, who is a world-renowned authority on immunology. He will speak on the topic of “Treating Cancer with PD-1 Antibodies”.
